1This is the sefer toledot [book of generations] of Adam. In the day that Elohim created Adam, He made him in the tzelem Elohim [image of God] . 2Male and female He created them, and He blessed them, and He called their name Adam [Mankind] in the day they were created. 3Adam lived 230 years and yalad [fathered] a son in his own likeness, after his image, and called his name Shet [Seth]. 4After he yalad Shet, Adam lived 700 years and yalad sons and daughters. 5All the days that Adam lived were 930 years, and he died. 6Shet lived 205 years and yalad Enosh. 7After he yalad Enosh, Shet lived 707 years and yalad sons and daughters. 8All the days of Shet were 912 years, and he died. 9Enosh lived 190 years and yalad Qenan [Cainan]. 10After he yalad Qenan, Enosh lived 715 years and yalad sons and daughters. 11All the days of Enosh were 905 years, and he died. 12Qenan lived 170 years and yalad Mahalal’el. 13After he yalad Mahalal’el, Qenan lived 740 years and yalad sons and daughters. 14All the days of Qenan were 910 years, and he died. 15Mahalal’el lived 165 years and yalad Yered [Jared]. 16After he yalad Yered, Mahalal’el lived 730 years and yalad sons and daughters. 17All the days of Mahalal’el were 895 years, and he died. 18Yered lived 162 years and yalad Chanokh [Enoch]. 19After he yalad Chanokh, Yered lived 800 years and yalad sons and daughters. 20All the days of Yered were 962 years, and he died. 21Chanokh lived 165 years and yalad Metushelach [Methuselah]. 22After he yalad Metushelach, Chanokh walked with Elohim 200 years and yalad sons and daughters. 23All the days of Chanokh were 365 years. 24Chanokh walked with Elohim, and he was not, for Elohim took him. 25Metushelach lived 167 years and yalad Lamekh. 26After he yalad Lamekh, Metushelach lived 802 years and yalad sons and daughters. 27All the days of Metushelach were 969 years, and he died. 28Lamekh lived 188 years and yalad a son. 29He called his name Noach [Noah], saying: “This one will comfort us in our work and the toil of our hands, from the adamah which Yahuah has cursed.” 30After he yalad Noach, Lamekh lived 565 years and yalad sons and daughters. 31All the days of Lamekh were 753 years, and he died.
